Top 11 Reasons Why I Support Gay Marriage (some funny, some not)

I thought Id try to come up with ten good reasons why I support gay marriage.

I came up with eleven.

Top 11 Reasons Why I Support Gay Marriage ( some funny, some not):

1. I have gay relatives and I want to double my gift to gay relative ratio this Christmas.

2. I don’t believe that laws and morals should discriminate a part of society based on a behavior that has no REAL impact on the concepts of being GOOD CITIZENS.

3. Marriage is not about having kids. Sure God commanded us to go forth an multiply but what about the hetero-couples that can’t have kids? Beside are we really sure god wasn’t just showing his preference for mathematics?

4. Marriage is not just for Catholics. Any two people that want to get married should be able to get married regardless of religion. I don’t care whether it’s in Cathedral de San Agustin, with a white veil, a ring, and angels singing in the choir, and sealed with an I do and a kiss or held in the jungles, with coconut fronds, and monkeys chattering above, with the couple jumping over a stick to seal the vows . Come to think of it, gay and lesbian couples should start their own church. That should solve the problem right quick.

5. Marriage is not just about making it legal. In fact the law makes sure that COHABITATION (living-in) also causes a legal binding of financial assets (Art 147 of the Family Code). The law makes sure that two people who have lived together for a prescribed period have CONJUGAL rights even without formal marriage. If it applies to hetero-couples why cant it apply to homo-couples?

6. Marriage is not just about being a man and a woman. Family Code prescribes that the couple be a man and woman. But functionally marriage is really just two people saying they want to spend the rest of their lives together. Because of this real functionality, marriage exclusively to hetros is a constantly challenged concept and it will just be matter of time before this changes. In the meantime, while I still do a double take when Im walking in San Francisco and see two men kissing in public, (blame it on my conservative upbringing but I do a double take when I see any kind of couple playing tonsil hockey in public), a quick “cest la vie”, the old “whatever makes them happy” and “ its a democracy” quickly kicks in.

7. There will be less “unhappy” priests and nuns. I think gay men and women who want to hide their enforced singleness hide themselves in “religious lifestyle”. Now Im not saying that all homosexuals ( is that still a politically correct term?) find solace in mono-sexual environments, buuut…

8. On the commercial side, Gay couples spend more! Yup it’s a fact Jack! Since gay couples probably wont have kids, they spend a lot of their income on goods. If I were a big mall owner and wanted more business Id have a big sign out front saying GAY COUPLES WELCOME!

9. Supporting gay marriage will actually end gay marriages. I mean think about it…if you DON’T allow gay marriages you perpetuate gays and lesbians hiding their true selves. When they hide there’s a good chance they’ll get married. If they get married there’s a good chance they’ll have children. Now if you believe in nature then if the is a gay gene then you risk propagating the characteristics you don’t like. If you believe in nurture, then having a closet dweller for a parent only increases the chance of unintentionally passing on homosexual behavior. So it looks like even if you don’t support gay marriage…you should.

10. Ok ill admit it…I prefer women…I guess that makes me a lesbian.

11. Hey! In the end…shouldn’t all marriages be happy AND gay?Badub-dub.
